Bring It Home With Team H2V

Well we are all beginning to see our finish line and, while the terrain is still going up, our emotional state is also soaring. However, our journey ends...

Children with Type 1 Diabetes can't say the same.

The goals are being reached:

1. Awareness of this Disease...IT IS OUR TURN to have the media pay attention.
2. Cross Canada in a record breaking time via bicycle to make sure there was a platform to launch our awareness program
3. Raise money for a cure for Juvenile Diabetes

4. Find a Cure

While we will slowly go back to our lives, work hard to create a legacy-ride in honour of the crossing and benefitting JDRF, and thank God we are healthy, many people will wake up tomorrow like they do every day needing to monitor their insulin levels so they can wintess another day.

Join us in English Bay tomorrow to celebrate a succesful campaign but remember we need to make sure the donations from every corner of the globe make it in so we can find that cure.

The road is long, mostly uphill, but we will get to the finish line together. We will find a cure together.

We hear you Willie. It's not about the bike. It's about the human spirit, and the type of strength the entire team has demonstrated.

Pushin on the money. Cannot let that side down.

Looking forward to the ride in with you tomorrow. There won't be a dry eye at the party.

"Hope" seems a perfect place to begin the final day of H2V 2007.

From reading the blogs, I can see that you have given "hope" to many families living with Juvenile Diabetes.

Your journey has been nothing short of amazing - truly inspirational. I have the utmost respect for the entire Team.

See you at the beach!!

I don't think anybody could have predicted just what H2V would become... from a national challenge to organize provincial peletons in 08 to all the fane to the (I agree) OCD-like watchfulness we have all kept on the site, to being named honorary Calgarians... just know that this tour was MEANT to happen.... and if that is the case, than YOU were meant to be the riders, supporters, and organizers of something BIG.

You all have done nothing short of leave your mark on history and on the people of Canada and I surely hope worldwide.

Thank you all for your part in making the world a better place, and enjoy your welcome (utterly deserved) that I am sore to miss tomorrow.

You are already heroes, and we know you are already humble... may you also accept the praise that you deserve for your selfless (and tireless) efforts.

By this time tomorrow you will,as your post states, have completed one journey, however, your legacy is just beginning, and will live on in everyone whose lives you have touched.

Good Morning Team H2V,
It's 2am your time as I write this -I hope you're all sleeping really well in Hope. I'm about to take off into the woods far away from computers to teach for the weekend. I'll miss keeping track of the final day of your ride.
I hope you have an amazing ride into the city with lots of cyclists joining you - and of course so many people inspired by your ride and fundraising efforts waiting for you at the finish.
Know there's lots of people across the country who wish they could be there as well.
OK, I want to write more but need to get back to packing the gear.
Enjoy the Pacific ocean, the celebrations, your family & friends, and lots of rest after all your hard work.

Nearly home TEAM H2V. Our family is just getting up for the day and your H2V family and supporters are hopefully getting your final zzzzzzzz's before an exciting ride to the finish. Wish I could be there to see the H2V machine roll in. I have been particularly impressed by the logistical organization of your challenging journey. I love seeing an event pulled off with extraodinary planning, teamwork, effort and problem solving along the way. I spoke to all of my high school geography classes about the daily details of your journey and they loved the website. They want lots of video for Monday's classes!

I'm off for a nice fall morning with Leo, Noah and Janice, then at nap time I'll be rippin the Ottawa River on my 8'8" Naish and 5.5m Ezzy (Richard will know what that means).

Enjoy the ride and keep the momentum going to push for a cure to Juvenile Diabetes. An annual event of some sort would be very cool.
TMB ; ) xoxo

I am so proud of you guys. As you ride into English Bay today, do so with your heads held high as you have so much to be proud of.

I wish we could be there to see you finish this journey as we've been like so many other OCD'ers out there faithfully following you on your website as you cross our country! It was great to see you on the prairies - which probably feels like eons ago.

After all this is over, your legacy will live on - wow - and hopefully a cure will come of this. You definitely need to think of writing a book on this experience - its something no one has ever done before!

Congrats on finishing and thank you from all of us out here in Manitoba who are cheering you on.

Keep pushing the pace!

Well it was a beautiful day in English Bay for the team's arrival. Sunny, with a few clouds being pushed to shore by a fair westerly.
I knew it was going to be an emotional jolt, and I'd prepared myself for a real shot of adrenaline on first sighting. However, when they flew down a little chute and around the last corner towards the finish area it was just amazing!! Hadn't quite prepared for that!!
Their tires were dipped into the Pacific amongst huge whistling, clapping, shouting, camera shrapnel, and horn blowing. (the loudest and most persistent of which was Gordon Campbell.)
Speeches were given, thanks were given, the corks on champagne bottles gave. Fantastic !! (And the mechanics were given an impressive mountain of beer.)
Congratulations to the riders, and all the support team that made it possible.
Phenomenal adventure Richard!!
Over and out.
