On the Eve
Ready for another early morning shift – I am up for the 2:30 5:30 and pass off to Willie who will be bringing us into Winnipeg. 2:30 5:30 not the most desirable shift. Its like riding in a dream.
The aggressive pace is starting to take its toll – the body is sore and not rebounding as quickly as when we started. The first 2 hours of each shift hurt.
The support on the road has been incredible – I have to thank the two gentlemen that met up with me in Sault Ste Marie at 11 pm and gave me a greatly needed lift – The police were not happy with our RV’s on the road so I was on my own. I had ridden solo for 2 hours and was starting to get seriously tired. Andre’s friend in the front and Andre behind picked me up to a blistering pace – they dropped me at the top of “1 mile hill” which was quite the ride.
Greatly appreciate the turn out from all the families – I know the changing schedule is tough to follow but we will be settling the pace as all the riders are now in the groove.
To see the families out during the day or the middle of the night is big boost for the riders and team.
Thanks for all the support

We are absolutely blown away at how well you are all doing and how much distance you have covered.
Your determination and perserverance is awsome. Mom says you are absolutely amazing and to keep up the pace. We are all thinking of you.
From your entire family
Way to go guys! Cheering you on as you go .... we're here in Brandon and hope you catch you if we can as you go through :) You guys have picked up tremendous time - looks like you're almost a day ahead of schedule! Fantastic!
Keep at it - I can't imagine how physically gruelling this must be, but wow - when I think of all the children you are doing this for (my little 3 yr old included), I feel so proud for all of you! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!
Big sigh of relief that you have left Ontario behind - especially that beautiful but rugged road north of Superior. Barring headwinds (fingers crossed) you should be posting excellent mileage in the next couple of rotations. That you have got this far in good order is a testimonial to your training and organization. The wear and tear may be showing but the goal is in sight. May those pelotons swarm around you while your strong legs keep cranking!
"And through the night, behind the wheel, the mileage clicking west / I think upon Mackenzie, David Thompson and the rest / Who cracked the mountain ramparts and did blaze a path for me / To race the roaring Fraser to the sea!" (from "Northwest Passage" by Stan Rogers)
